Working Papers

The Cities and Globalization Working Group (CGWG) is launching a regular working paper series. We welcome faculty, students, activists, and practitioners who wish to contribute to the research agenda of  Cities and Globalization Working Group to submit manuscripts for our series. Manuscripts should explore both cities and globalization.

CGWG Working Paper Series Guidelines

The CGWG Working Paper Series is open to all colleagues who wish to contribute to the research agenda of the Cities and Globalization Working Group. Accepted papers may be publication-ready or earlier drafts intended to solicit feedback and suggestions from the CGWG community of scholars. Other formats, including scientific posters, are also welcomed.

Members of the CGWG working group function as editors of the Working Paper Series to ensure submissions are relevant to the research agenda and meet basic quality standards. All accepted papers will be posted in PDF format on the CGWG website. The accepted papers will also be posted in PDF format on the Center for Global Studies (CGS) website because the CGWG is a working paper series within the broader CGS working paper series.

Inclusion of a paper in the series does not constitute publication and should not limit publication in any other venue, including in another working paper series. We expect that most working papers will eventually be submitted for more formal publication elsewhere. On request of the first author, we will replace the working paper and/or add a reference to the publication.

Submissions should be emailed to the CGWG working paper committee (Dana Dolan, Agnieszka Paczynska, and Johanna Bockman). Be sure to include the following:

  • Title page with author(s) identified by name, title, department (if applicable), university or organization, and email.
  • Abstract (typically 200 to 300 words in length).
  • Whether your paper will appear on other websites (such as SSRN).
  • Please send your manuscript in Microsoft Word format to facilitate the review process. If that is not possible, please send the paper in PDF format.

Authors are requested to send an update if their paper is published or appears on additional websites.
